While I truly love outdoor construction, there is something mysterious and fascinating about old homes in Maryland. I don’t just mean the numerous times I’ve felt like I was being personally haunted by long dead past residents during renovation projects. No, what’s truly mysterious and fascinating is the craftsmanship of the old builders, the multiple histories of previous renovations, and the possibility that locked away in walls and and floors lies a little bit of history.
There’s also the fact that sometimes they come with clawfoot tubs that everyone will tell you can fetch you $500 on Marketplace but that nobody seems to actually want to buy. More important, nobody wants to try to get them down old narrow stairways. This is why this one didn’t make it through our recent renovation in one piece.
