There’s this place in Iceland…
It’s along the black sand beaches, not far from the town of Vik, a place called Dyrhólaey. The tourists travel there because of the keyhole rocks in the sea, the puffin nests, and the magnificent volcanic glacier that dominates the landscape.
But it’s the horizon that gives shape and meaning to the place; a stark blue line against the cold gray sky. Nobody sits on this beach and there’s no surfers or umbrellas or footprints in the sand. There is only the blue horizon inviting the imagination to set forth and see what lies beyond.
What does a small construction company have to do with Iceland?
It was the cold blue horizon of Dyrhólaey that gave us the inspiration. It’s not just our name, it’s where the idea started that we could take a risk and try something new and still do what we love. We’ve been restoring old buildings and constructing swimming pools and backyard spaces for many years. The opportunity to leave familiar shores and test the horizon is the adventure. We hope we get the opportunity to share it with you.
